'Big Daddy' Ed Roth Passes Away

Ed "Big Daddy" Roth is dead at age 69. A sign painter turned car designer and known for his radical automotive creations and cartoon characters such as Rat Fink, made him an icon in Southern California in the 50s and 60s. He was found dead April 4, 2001 in his workshop near his home in Manti, Utah. The cause of death is believed to be from a massive heart attack, but the exact cause has not been announced
We had the opportunity to meet Big Ed at Hot August Nights in Reno a few years back and found him to be interesting, outgoing and possessing a great sense of humor. He made time for each and every person that approached him and he was genuinely interested in what you had to say.
For those of us that had the privilege to meet Big Ed, we will miss his wit, humor and talent.
All the best to Ed's Family
